Human T-cell lymphotropic virus

Human T-cell lymphotropic virus (HTLV) is a retrovirus similar to HIV and may be blood-borne. There are two types of HTLV, designated HTLV-I and -II. They are immunologically similar and while they may be distinguished serologically they are better distinguished using nucleic acid testing.
